Ian Harris is a Minnesota-based creative specializing in apparel design with an emphasis on plus-size fashion. After graduating from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities with his B.S. in Apparel Design in 2020, Ian spent time as a production sewer for Hackwith Design House in St. Paul, MN. While at Hackwith, he focused on swimwear construction techniques and made-to-order production.
In August of 2021, Ian joined the technical design department at Maurices corporate headquarters in Duluth, MN. As an assistant technical designer for the toppers and outerwear department, Ian has gained experience in the fit of a wide range of garments. From cut-and-sew cardigans, to tailored blazers, to heavy-duty puffer jackets, the variety of the toppers product category has provided a unique array of fit problems and solutions to work through. Currently, he continues to grow into his role within the technical design team.
In all of his work, Ian strives for authenticity while emphasizing creativity. This is evident in his senior thesis that focused on bright and luxe plus-sized clothing for all people. Going forward, he would love to push the industry further towards inclusivity for all. Ian's work is bold, fun, and chock-full of his love for pop culture, and usually takes form as statement pieces.
